A 62-year-old Kwabena Amisah has shot his 57-year-old wife Abena Duah to death at Adansi Bodwosango in the Adansi North District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
Father of the deceased, Kwadwo Adu narrating the incident to Adom News said the suspect, shot Abena in the chest whilst the deceased was asleep at his (Adu) house around 12:00 am on Monday.
He said Kwabena committed the dastardly act because he could not stand the pressure after their 30 year-old marriage coming to an end.
Kwabena Amisah, the suspect, is said to be a drunkard, a habit which the deceased detested, so she threatened to end the marriage.
“The only crime my daughter committed is to advise her husband to stop drinking else she will divorce him. But my in-law paid no attention to my daughter and she was forced to end the marriage and come stay at our family house” her distraught father said.
However, the suspect failed to heed to his wife plea so she packed her things and left the house.
Kwabena who was peeved by his wife’s decision, stormed her wife’s family house at night and murdered her.
“Kwabena who was not happy about the decision of my daughter came to our house when we all sleeping and shot her in the chest and later fled the scene” he said.
Kwadwo Adu is appealing to the police to investigate thoroughly to ensure justice for his daughter.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue for autopsy.
