A street has been named in Ashaiman, Greater Accra Region of Ghana, after popular Ghanaian Reggae and Dancehall musician, Livingstone Etse Satekia known in Showbiz as Stonebwoy. The Stone-bwoy street really comes as a great honour to the Ashaiman born artiste, especially at this time he returned home after being away for long.
Stonebwoy actually noticed the new development when he returned from Jamaica where he has been for some months now, on a series of concerts. The Go Higher hit-maker who felt much elevated at the move by people of his hometown took to his official Facebook page to share his joy and gratitude with fans.

For receiving this rare homage at this early stage of his lifetime and career, we believe that Stonebwoy must have touched the lives of the Ashaimans in such a way that inspired them into action. Below are some of 3 strong factors that inspired the Stone-Bwoy Street move:
Seeing his current status, one may be thinking that Stonebwoy was born with a silver spoon, but never. The rapper was actually born and raised in his native land, Ashaiman, in the Greater Accra region of Ghana. The onset of his music career dates back to his early school days at the Methodist Day Secondary School, the same school attended by popular Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie.
The photo above shows Stonebwoy with some colleagues in school, showcasing their talents. With his looks and composure in the photo, there is no doubt that he is actually a born music star!
Just as he indicated in his Facebook post, Stonebwoy, especially via his music and every other possible means has always been very loud and open about his love for Ashaiman. He staunchly represents Ashaiman in everything he does and his immense pride in the town has been reciprocated by his people in the Stone-bwoy street gesture.
Among several other activities, he often stages free concerts as a way of identifying with as well as showing appreciation to the town that raised him.
Every candid person can vouch that Stonebwoy’s music has some unique characteristics in them; something quite different from the usual hip life songs currently trending in Ghana and Africa as a whole.
Stonebwoy is popular for blending the three music genres – afro pop, reggae and dancehall all in one, resulting to what is known as Afro Dancehall or reggae Dancehall. He once said that what he brings to the Ghana music scene is “difference and uniqueness”. And certainly, the Ashaimans must have seen this difference and uniqueness in the musician, to confer such an honour on him.

Recently, androgynous Ghanaian singer, Noella Wiyaala also had a street named after her in her hometown, Sissala, in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region.
Livingstone Etse Satekia aka Stonebwoy started his career as an underground rapper. It was his performances at the rap battles that caught the attention of Samini to sign him to his “High Grade famliy”. He remained with Samini who could be described as his godfather until 2012 when he created his own record label, Burniton Music. In the same year, he released his first personal work, Grade 1 Album.
This was followed by Necessary Evil in 2014. This second album received 3 Ghana Music Awards from 6 nominations. This was also followed by Living Stone in 2015.
Stonebwoy who won the Best Reggae/Dancehall Artist at the 2017 Ghana Music Honours, will soon release his 4th album titled Epistles of Mama. The BHIM Nation General is likely to win another Artiste of the Year award, having been nominated in that category for the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) scheduled for 8th April, 2017.
