The Electoral Commission has disqualified 24 parliamentary aspirants in the Ashanti Region from contesting in this year’s December 7 parliamentary election. Various reasons were given by the by the Commission.
A total of 240 aspirants from 12 political parties filed to contest the 47 parliamentary seats in the region.
Nineteen were contesting as independent candidates. Both the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party filed for each of the 47 slots.
