TEMA Regional Police Command led by the Deputy Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kwaku Boadu Preprah, last week Saturday arrested 21 suspected drug peddlers and also retrieved 21 motorbikes suspected to have been stolen.
The operation, according to the Public Relations Officer for Tema Regional Police Command, ASP Juliana Obeng, took place at Tulaku, Ashaiman and Community 25.
The 21 suspected drug peddlers and users were between the ages of 18 and 51.
The operation was part of a routine intermittent swoops, organised by the command, to rid the Tema region of bad nuts and miscreants who do not allow law-abiding citizens to go about their lawful duties.
Out of the number of the people arrested, 10 have been screened and released, while the other 11 were still in police custody assisting in investigations.
The 21 motorbikes have however, been retained while investigations are ongoing.
ASP Obeng reiterated the command’s readiness and preparedness to continue with the fight against crime and make the Tema region a safe haven for its indigenes and also stated that these operations will continue unabated.
The command sounded a word of caution to criminals within the region to desist from acts of lawlessness since the long arm of the law will get to them and deal with them appropriately.
She added that timely and accurate information from members of the public is a good recipe for the fight against crime and therefore crave the indulgence of the general public who have information that will lead to the arrest of deviants within the society to furnish the police with such information to reduce the incidences of crime in the Region.
