One of Ghana’s labour unions, the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU), has expressed satisfaction with the government’s 2017 budget statement presented to parliament on Thursday.
The Union explains that its expectations were met by the government, particularly in the area of reduction in taxes and the abolishment of some nuisance taxes.
General Secretary of the ICU, Solomon Kotei, who said this on Onua FM Friday while commenting on the budget stated: “It met our expectations far beyond, especially the abolishing and reduction in taxes in the budget.”
He added: “it has brought the antidote to our challenges because people buy at a high cost and sell at high cost which is not helping the economy”.
