Information available to the Daily Heritage newspaper has revealed that the Weija Police has arrested a young man believed to be in his thirties for openly confessing he is gay, at Oshieye, a suburb of Kokrobite in Accra.
According to the information gathered, Asare Godwin, who is a worker at Ghana Tourism Authority, Koforidua branch, came to the Weija police station and made a report that some armed robbers who robbed his house have been identified to be hiding at Oshieye and needed police assistance to arrest them.
“Most times, before the police move to embark on such an exercise, we demand for permit and authority note since he claimed the incident happened in Koforidua, but the moment he mentioned armed robbers, we decided to break protocol and take them by surprise.
“We then armed ourselves and went into action and arrested the culprit at Oshieye, a suburb of Kokrobite,” the source stated.
The source said through police intelligence and interrogations, the culprit revealed that he is not an armed, but rather gay and that Mr. Asare after having good time with him refused to pay him hence his action.
In an interview with the paper, Mr. Asare admitted having carnal knowledge with the culprit but refused to comment further.
As at the time of filing this report, the culprit and his accuser were still held at the Weija police station waiting for orders from the Koforidua regional police command for the suspects to be transferred to face trial in the law courts.
