Reggae musician and medical doctor, Knii Lante, has revealed that Ghanaians didn’t support 2016 Grammy award nominee, Rocky Dawuni.
Dr. Lante made this revelation in an interview with Ghanaweb.com, at the just-ended Ghana Music Week Festival held at Alliance Francise in Accra.
According to him, “I don’t think Ghanaians supported him [Rocky Dawuni], the press didn’t give him enough publicity like they would have given to other genre if that genre artiste had been nominated.”
“…I can imagine if Nigerian artiste has been nominated for the Grammys all the DJs will be playing the nominee’s songs anytime they are on air,” he added.
Rocky Dawuni’s sixth album, ‘Branches of the Same Tree,’ released worldwide on March 31, 2015 by the Cumbancha record label, was nominated for “Best Reggae Album” at the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards 2016 but lost to Morgan Heritage.
