The Police in Akropong-Akuapem in the Eastern region is investigating the death of a 14-year-old boy found hanging on a tree.
The incident occurred over the weekend at Akropong-Akuapem.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Tetteh Quarshie Hospital Morgue.
According to the Akropong District Police Commander, DSP Gyabeng Manu, Police received information about the incident and quickly dispatched officers to the scene.
He said the boy was on the tree at the backyard of a house.
According to DSP Manu, preliminary investigations show that, the deceased attempted to mimic stones hanged on the branches of the tree to stem it from growing tall.
“Initial investigation conducted reveals that, he went to play under a tree which has its branches hanged with stones to stem it from growing tall, so when he saw the stones hanging on the tree, he thought he could also practice.”
He, however, added that further investigations are ongoing to establish the actual cause of death.
DSP Manu discounted claims of a serial killing link to the 2016 election in the Akuapem North Constituency.
