A Kumasi High Court has granted bail to the 13 members of a vigilante group, Delta Force, accused of rioting, causing unlawful damage and assault on a public officer.
Counsel for the accused, Matthew Appiah, filed a bail application at the High Court after the KMA Circuit Court remanded them in prison custody in their first appearance.
The court presided over by Justice Obiri Yeboah on Wednesday ruled that the accused must comply with the bail conditions, which include GHC10,000 each with two sureties who are residents in Kumasi.
The sureties also submitted their cards as part of the bail conditions. The 13 accused persons are to report to the police investigator once in every week, their lawyer said.
Matthew Appiah was happy that his clients have been granted bail. They will reappear at the KMA Circuit Court on April 20 for the trial to continue.
The 13 were yesterday fined 200 penalty units each which translate into GHc2,400 by Kumasi Circuit Court Four following their escape from lawful custody last week.
