The 10th Further and Higher Education and Research Conference has opened in Accra, Ghana.
The three-day conference opened on Monday, November 14 and will end on Wednesday, November 16.
The conference will build on the prior experiences and outcomes of previous Education International Higher Education and Research Conferences, as well as the successful first Further and Higher Education Caucus at the 7th World Congress in Ottawa.
It will also bring together the further and higher education and research sectors to discuss and analyse topical issues, including copyright and open educational resources, privatisation, academic freedom, casualisation and SDGs, and related education indicators on higher education and vocational education and training.
Speaking to Citi News, the President of National Association of Graduate Teachers, NAGRAT, Christian Addae Poku, indicated that the conference will also be looking at how government over the world can plan well to meet the standards or the target set by sustainable development goals, such that education will not be a one stop thing but a lifelong learning where everybody sees himself as continuously learning.
He added that discussions will also tackle the need to encourage government to spend on research because every policy that government embarks on must be grounded in research.
