Former Black Stars player Augustine Arhinful has decried the suppression of young talents in Ghana’s football despite shinning potentials available.
Speaking with Sammy Forson on GHOne after the Black Stars debacle at the just ended AFCON, he lamented the underutilization of skillful young players who were benched throughout the tournament when they could have meaningfully impacted the games played at the tourney.
“During the clash with Burkina Faso, you realized the tempo of the game was high and sustained until the second half when the old lads Asamoah Gyan, Dede Ayew and Atsu were introduced.”
“Don’t get me wrong, their participations in the team is not over, but what we must know is that, with the support and backing of our experienced players, these young hungry players would have been fired up to do the unimaginable,” he averred.
He particularly, cited Kpetepey, Tetteh as players who brought their brilliance to bear on the field and lamented over the fact that Asafuah was benched throughout.
He advised that these young players be integrated going forward to prepare them for the future if the Black Stars are looking to win back their past glory.
