Paa Kwesi’s boys failed to the clinch the 2017 U17 Cup of Nations title after losing 1-0 to the Malians, who came to the tournament as champions of the last edition.
They [Mali] go into the history books as part of countries to have won the tournament most times [2] joint with Ghana, Nigeria & Gambia.
At a press conference after the game, Kwesi Fabien said he is very happy to have qualified the Black Starlets to the U-17 World Cup, adding that ‘’you will see Ghana at the world cup in a different way’’
”’I think I have said it already that Mali deserve to win and they’ve won. They played very well. I don’t know whether I should cry so that people will know that we have lost”.
[He looked happy during the presser] No. For me I am very happy because I have been able to qualify the team to the world cup and then we are really going to prepare very well and you will really see Ghana at the world cup in a different way.’”He answered, after being asked by a journalist if he really thinks the best team won the competition.
The U-17 World Cup will be held in India with all four semi-finalists of the just ended U-17 African Championship qualifying automatically. It will be held in India October this year.
