Premier League football club West Ham United are interested in taking Chelsea FC and Ghana youngster Christian Atsu on loan for next season.
The source from sky news UK also report that Aston Villa, Hamburg, and Espanyol are also interested in the pacey winger’s services for next season. Christian Atsu is reportedly part of Jose Mourinhio’s preseason plans so he will get the chance to impress the boss after having a fantastic World Cup for the Black Stars.
The young midfielder was a fine player at Porto and on loan at Vitesse Arnhem but he really burst on to the scene in this summer’s World Cup.
Christian Atsu put in a potential man of the match performance against the United States had his side managed to pull off the victory against the Americans. His pace and trickery gave Demarcus Beasley fits and his ability to come inside and shoot with his left was a thorn in Tim Howard’s side.
He was not able to find the back of the net this World Cup but he was one of the bright spots for the Black Stars and is certainly a big player for the future for them.
It would appear that Chelsea would favor a loan to West Ham or Aston Villa if a loan is indeed on the cards for the youngster.
However that comes with the condition that he is guaranteed a place in the first team or at least a chance to fight for a first team place. West Ham’s attack was stagnant last year and an exciting player like Christian Atsu could be just what they need to shake their dull reputation.
If Mourinho decides to keep Atsu at Stamford Bridge then his pace and trickery on the wing will give Chelsea another attacking dimension opposite, or in place of, Eden Hazard.
