Interim coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Michael Osei has hailed the performance of his charges in the win over Bechem United, but played down the results.
Asante Kotoko recorded a 3-0 victory over last season’s MTN fa Cup winners Bechem United in their first game of the GHALCA G6 tournament at the Kumasi sports stadium.
However, Michael Osei has played down the number of goals in the game as he believes they are a team in progress.
“We have worked very hard for the past three weeks in training in it showed in our game yesterday, but we have to continue working to meet our target.
“It’s too early to assess the team because that was just the first game and I wouldn’t want to use that to believe that we’ve arrived because the results don’t matter much in these tournaments as it only serves as preseason games where we use to fine-tune the work we’ve done over the course of the past weeks.”
“Once we’ve got our first three points it’s obvious our morale will lift and serve as a motivation for the tournament and for the whole coming season.”
“I’ve decided not to use too much players in the tournament because the old ones are good and I don’t need to bring in many new players, but like five or six players will join the team in the forthcoming season.”
