Crystal Palace are understood to be considering a late transfer swoop to sign FC Lorient and Ghana striker Majeed Waris.
The window closes on Wednesday evening, but Palace, who have enduring a testing start to the Premier League season, are keen on a few late deals to bolster their limited squad.
According to reports in France, Alan Pardew is considering a £10 million move for the Black Stars frontman, who managed 12 goals in Ligue 1 last season upon returning to France after a testing spell in Trabzonspor.
The 24-year-old has featured three times so far for Les Merlus this season, and was in action on Friday evening as Sylvain Ripoll’s side were defeated 2-0 by Olympique de Marseille as rumours of an imminent departure swirl.
Pardew has overseen two defeats and a draw so far this season, with the Londoners only managing a 1-1 draw at home against Bournemouth on Saturday, but has already spent big in recruiting Belgium forward Christian Benteke from Liverpool.
However, Yannick Bolasie has moved onto Everton while another attacking option, Wilfried Zaha, has been heavily linked with a move to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Waris missed the 2015 Cup of Nations triumph through injury, but appears to have overcome his fitness concerns in France, even if issues of ill-discipline stole the headlines on occasion last term.
The attacker was overlooked by Avram Grant for his latest Ghana squad but, with Andre Ayew set for a spell on the sidelines due to injury, could be a contender for a berth in the Black Stars squad for the Cup of Nations trip to Gabon in January.
