There’s saying that ‘brighten the corner where you are’, and that is exactly what former Ghanaian international goalkeeper, Cudjoe Addo is doing with the senior men’s football national team of Mauritius.
The former Liberty goalkeeper and Black Queens goalkeeper trainer is now the director of goalkeepers for all the national teams in Mauritius and ghanasoccernews.com sources close to the Mauritius football association have mentioned that they are thrilled with his performance and and the level of competition he has brought into the goalkeeping department of all the national teams.
Last Sunday, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president of Ghana who is in Mauritius for the 49th Independence and 25th Republic Day celebrations was particularly happy with his exploits after he fielded a third choice goalkeeper in an anniversary match between Mauritius Under-21 National Team and Singapore National Under-20 Team played at the New George V Stadium in Mauritius on Saturday.
The keeper in question put up superlative saves that drew applause from all who witnessed the game with the credit going to the former Black Queens goalkeepers trainer.
Sources say, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in a discussion with Cudjoe Addo after the game expressed his desire to have him on board the Black Stars team in the near future.
Cudjoe, who signed a 2 year deal with the Mauritius Football Association as technical director for goalkeepers in all their national teams, is one of the few unsung Ghanaian sportsmen out there lifting high the flag of Ghana wherever they may find themselves.
Meanwhile, officials of the Mauritius Football Association are looking to pin him down with a contract extension before he decides to abandon them for the Ghana Black Stars job.
