Unione Calcio Sampdoria are lining up a bid for Evian defender Jonathan Mensah in a bid to bolster their rear ahead of the new season.
The Ghanaian defender has improved in recent seasons with the French Ligue 1 side since arriving from Granada in the summer of 2011 playing 27 games as Evian survived relegation last season.
The fate of Polish defender Bartosz Salamon and Michele Fornasier is still uncertain at the Serie A side and manager Sinisa Mihajlovic would like to bring in reinforcement.
The contract between the Ghanaian and the French club expires in the summer of 2015 and Mensah could be transferred to Sampdoria for a fee of €1 million.
The 23-year-old, who played for Ghana at both the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, has previously played for South African side Free State Stars and Granada of Spain.
