Five Tema Youth players lost their mobile phones and several others lost their monies while playing against Bechem United on Wednesday afternoon in an outstanding week three clash of the Ghana Premier League at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
The barbaric act happened while the players were busily sweating on the field when buglars broke into the dressing room of the newly promoted side to ransack the whole place.
Few players lost their football shoes bit found them a few meters away from the dressing room after the game.
Narrating the incident, president of the club, Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer sadly said he least expected that thing to happen during the game since the dressing room was under lock.
“It’s shocking. After being robbed on the field by referee Nuhu Liman, we suffer another robbery in the dressing room,” he said.
“Five players lost their mobile phones, many lost their monies and about four lost their boots. But some of the boots were found around the dressing room later,” he added.
Tema Youth lost the game by a lone goal amidst complains of horrible officiating.
The Bechem Park which was rated as the second most violent league center last season, in a survey conducted by Ghanasoccernet, has so far recorded two incidents as some players of Liberty Professionals also complained of harsh comments and intimidation from the home fans when the two met last Sunday.
