Tema Youth owner Wilfred Kwaku Osei says his side deserved the 2-1 victory over rivals Hearts of Oak in matchday seven of Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.
Hearts were on the back of a win over city rivals Great Olympics and were hoping to make it two wins in a roll ahead of the Super Clash with Kotoko, but Joseph Paintsil’s late strike dashed their hopes.
“Hearts will admit that we played better than them and deserved the three points,” Osei told Happy FM.
“We have been playing well for some time now because against Bolga All Stars and Elmina Sharks we were super, same as against Wafa.
“Over the period, the signs indicated that our team’s confidence had gone up and it wasn’t surprising that we won. I promised the Hearts top hierarchy that my side will defeat them but they thought we are like one of the smaller clubs, which they can bully and took my warning as a joke,” he said.
“I will praise the Tema Youth players and charge them to continue with the fine performance so we can have a good finish at the end of the season. We need to improve to avoid relegation struggles,” he added.
