MESSAGE FROM SWAG PRESIDENT KWABENA YEBOAH ON THE 48TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ASSOCIATION
Today marks the 48th anniversary of our beloved Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG). As we clock 48 on this day, I urge all to spare a thought for our Founding Fathers. May the Good Lord grant us the wisdom & grace to blaze their selfless trail. In everything let us ask ourselves (journalists) what we can do to perpetuate the beautiful legacy, not what we can get from the Association. Together let’s continue to make the journalism work a beautiful one. We should continue to champion the positive trends and help develop our sector.
May I use this occasion to salute all journalists and call for an immediate stop to attacks on sports journalists from administrators, fans and hooligans while they go about their daily routines. The Sports journalist should be seen as a partner in sports promotion and development, not an opponent.
On such occasions it is important to be reflective on our past, to help improve our present in order to build a legacy for the future and posterity. Today, our profession is going through several changes & becoming more dynamic, a sharp break from the conventional way of carrying out our duties.
Happy anniversary to all members, God bless SWAG & God bless Ghana sports.
