Association Sportive Tanda sleek striker, Stephen Asare Baffour has declared that he is ripe for the Black Stars after producing a superb performance in the Ivorian Ligue 1.
The former Berekum Chelsea player has been the live wire for defending champions, AS Tanda since he joined two seasons ago and has continued his rich vein of form this season by recording 11 goals in 14 games.
And last week he made history by becoming the first Ghanaian player to bag four goals in a single game in the Ivorian Premier League, and this has triggered calls from some Ivorian tabloids to wonder why he has been overlooked in recent times by the handlers of the senior national team.
In an exclusive interview with Football Ghana.com, the pacy striker indicated that he’s been waiting for a national team call-up in recent time because he’s sure to deliver the goods when called upon.
“My only national call-up was in the Black satellite and since that I’ve been yearning to wear the jersey again. I had a good time in camp and would want to experience it again. However, Ghana is known to have one of the best players in Africa especially the attacking front and I believe I can be part of the team because I know my capabilities.”
“Black stars possess quality which I think with the right services I can replicate what I’ve been doing here. Someone will feel the Ivorian league is not top notch, but after playing in the Ghana league and this league, I can say they’re on par. The only difference is the number of clubs in the league, but that does not take away the quality of play from the clubs. I will keep doing the good work and wait for the right time.”
