The Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has revealed the vision of his Ministry’s future budgetary allocations.
The Sports Ministry, in recent years, has lamented the insufficiency of its budget, when few sports disciplines take a large chunk of its scarce resources.
The sports minister was unhappy about the pressure exerted on its budget by football activities as it puts other disciplines in a handicapped position.
He said: “We are going to change the face of sports in this country, equality among all sporting disciplines with regards to monetary allocations will highly be monitored.
“For instance, when we are giving 10 Ghana cedis for Sports, we shall share it equally, if a scenario of insufficiency arises, it will be dependent on the association involved
to seek for alternative measures to balance its books,” he told Nhyira Fm.
Recently, the sports minister has been criticized for his rigid style of managing football activities in the country but he is clearly unfazed with such criticisms and is focused on pursuing his agenda to foster the development of sports in the country.
