Sports Ministry-GFA Fued Affected Players Psychologically

Former BA United coach, Frimpong Manso is of the view that the impasse between the Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of the Youth and Sports affected the players psychologically against Uganda.

The Black Stars kicked off their Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Cranes of Uganda but unfortunately dropped two points at the Tamale Sports Stadium on Friday.

Many have attributed that draw to the fiction between these parties but the experienced coach believes the fictions affected the players psychologically on the field of play.

“The match against Uganda was very difficult and we all saw it on the field of play but I will say there were some factors that contributed to that painful draw”. Frimpong Manso told Asempa Sports.

“The impasse the Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports psychologically affected the players and after the match we all heard there was some argument between the players and the minister. The pitch was also a major factor because anytime the players want to build an attack the pitch slow down the buildup. The weather condition on the day was not good but I must say the Ugandans were very good on the day.

He continued, “We couldn’t find antidote to how the Ugandans were playing. Tactically they were better than us and if you critically look at our National team squad, it is predictable but the question is who is helping Avram Grant to do the monitoring? Do we have players that deserve to be in the Black Stars team? For me, we need proper monitoring to create proper competition. You look at our striking position; there is no competition there so I will recommend that we should use FIFA friendly matches to justify new players to create competition in the team.”

Quizzed if we need expatriates coaches to win or develop our football, Frimpong Manso said, “If we want to develop our football, we should our local coaches the way we treat the expatriates coaches because I believe the local coaches can do the work more than the foreign coaches but the problem we have is that we don’t respect the local and that is our problem but if we want to win let have confidence in our local coaches.”
