Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide, has announced a $5000 package each for the national U-17 team the Black Starlets if they win the ultimate trophy in Gabon.
Hadzide made this pronouncement at the Kotoka International Airport ahead of the team’s departure to Gabon on Friday.
A contingent of 27 will participate in the U-17 AFCON which kick starts May 14 and ends on May 28.
But without a definite bonus structure, Hadzide said government is ready to surprise these lads when the ultimate lands in Ghana.
“The entire team have our total support as a nation and there is a budget for the team which we are working hard to get it done before the tournament starts for them to make the players and management of the team happy.
“This team will reach the ultimate by winning five games and if it happens each player will take home $5000 and there is also a surprise package for them,” Hadzide told the press.
