Soccabet are set to announce a mouth-watering sponsorship package with SIX Ghanaian clubs including two in the country’s second-tier as the influx of betting companies sponsoring football clubs in the West African nation keeps increasing, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
Former Ghana Premier League champions Wa All Stars, 2012 CAF Champions League campaigners Berekum Chelsea, ambitious local side Inter Allies and long-standing traditional club Ebusua Dwarfs as well two unnamed second-tier sides are expected to benefit from the bumper deal.
Ghana’s leading football website, GHANAsoccernet.com has been told by top sources the Premier League clubs have agreed the terms of the contract with an official announcement expected to be made in the coming days.
The sponsorship deal bring to the fore the latest betting industry to monopolise the sponsorship sector of football in Ghana.
Four Premier League clubs Ashantigold, Aduana Stars, Medeama and Liberty Professionals have secured sponsorship deals with Betway while Dreams FC are hooked onto Mybet as the number of gambling companies interested in sponsoring clubs keeps escalating.
These clubs will now be able to challenge for Premier League honours as they can inject the money into new players and new infrastructure, giving them a better chance of winning.
In what could best be viewed as ambush marketing, the Ghana Premier League which has been without a headline sponsor for two seasons will be dominated by betting firms.
