Chicago Fire attacker David Accam is delighted by the club’s signing of 2014 Fifa World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The Germany international joined the Men in Red from English giants Manchester United last week after penning a designated player contract that guarantees him a reported $4.5 million in 2017.
The 32-year-old, who spent most of his career at Bayern Munich, linked up with coach Veljko Paunovic’s outfit this week following his unveiling on Wednesday.
“For me, Bastian is a class player, on and off the field,” Accam told his club’s official website.
“He showed it in the last two training [sessions] he has [had] with us.
“For me, he is a big boost for our team, we have another two good midfielders and adding Bastian to it is a good one of us.
“We are gelling well in training, he knows what he wants to do, good passing and for me, he is an amazing boost for us.”
Schweinsteiger will make his Fire debut in the Major League Soccer clash with Montreal Impact on Saturday.
Ghana international Accam has been Fire’s linchpin since joining the club in December 2014, winning both Best Player and Top Scorer awards for the past two seasons.
