The Ghana international has shed light on his January move to the Eagles
Crystal Palace defender Jeffrey Schlupp says the lure of working under a renowned coach like Sam Allardyce influenced his decision to join the club.
The Ghanaian transferred to the Eagles from fellow Premier League side Leicester City, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal in January.
Having been forced out of King Power Stadium by lack of playing time, the 24-year-old has so far made eight league appearances for his new outfit.
“Everyone was aware of what he [Allardyce] achieved before he joined and was a key reason for me coming here,” Schlupp said, as reported by his club’s official website.
“He sends us out onto the pitch with a game plan that we have been working on in training and our results prove that it is working.
“He puts the trust in us and then we go out on the pitch wanting to do it for him.
“We do a lot out on the training pitch regarding our shape and he works with us as a defensive group and we have been doing a lot of work on that.
“What we have been doing in games has shown it has worked and that is why it is important that you keep doing the same practice during training, as when you can look back, how well it has gone in matches show you are doing something right.”
Schlupp could be in action when Palace host Arsenal in the Premier League on Monday.
Palace currently sit two places above the relegation zone on the 16th position with eight matches to go.
