Legendary Ghanaian defender Samuel Osei Kuffour says he has given up on the dream of becoming president of famous Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
The 39-year-old was in October 2015 expected to be confirmed as the new administrative head of Kotoko following poor results produced by the Opoku Nti led administration.
The ex-Bayern Munich star earlier confirmed his appointment as ‘President’ of the club in an interview with Metro TV. However, the public confirmation even before his appointment was confirmed seemed not to have gone down well with the club owner leading to a breakdown.
Ten months on, Opoku Nti now acts as General Manager of the club after his tenure ended; raising hopes that Kuffour might be contacted to take over fully.
But asked in an interview with Rahman Osman of Citi FM if he still looks up to the Kotoko job he was once linked to, Kuffour said that the dream was over.
“I am not a person who chases a dream. Football is football, if it doesn’t come your way, you move on. I don’t care about what’s past; I care about what I’m gonna grab in the next minute,” he said.
