Sammy Kuffuor To Bury Late Mother On April 29

Former Ghana and Bayern Munich defender, Samuel Osei Kuffour, will bury his mother, Gloria Abena Ateah on Saturday, April 29 in Kumasi. Madam Ateah passed away last February after a short illness in Kumasi.

Her loss came as a big blow to Supersport pundit, KufFuor, who is very fond of his late mother who sold her television set to aide his football career in the 90’s.

Kufuor named a seven-storey building at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra after her. The structure, Abena Ateaa Towers, houses the Academic City College, formerly known as Sikkim Manipal University, and the Ring Road branch of the Access Bank.

The three-day burial rites will start on Friday, April 28 and end on Sunday, April 30.

Members of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana including Tony Baffoe, Stephen Appiah, CK Akunnor, Augustine Arhinful and Laryea Kingston are expected to be in attendance at the burial.

Kuffour made 59 appearances for the Black Stars after featuring for all the various junior national teams.

He won bronze with the Black Meteors in 1992 and finished with two runner-ups medals in 1993 with the Starlets and Satellites as well as gold with the Starlets in 1991.

The SuperSports pundit also won five Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich and a Champions League title in 2000-2001 season where the German side beat Valencia.
