Ghana’s aspiring world title boxer, Richard Commey (24-2, 22 KOs) has expressed his readiness and is very optimistic as he targets a win on Saturday evening instead of a knockout.
The 30 year old who came close to becoming a world champion for Ghana is very confident of defeating his Belgium based Tunisian opponent Hedi Slimani (26-2, 14 KOs) for the WBC international lightweight championship at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
Addressing the press at the weigh in on Friday Commey said Ghanaians should expect a victory from him.
“I am just going in for a win.”
“If a knockout comes it’s a bonus and I will give glory to God.”
“This fight means a lot, I’m coming back and I have got back to back defeats that has set me back for a world title and I mean this WBC international welterweight championship will bring me closer to the world title,” Commey said.
The fight which is part of the year-long celebration of Ghana’s 60th Independence anniversary will be attended by His Excellency the President of Ghana Nana Akufo – Addo.
