Given that the current misunderstanding between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) could affect the performance of the Black Stars in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, the two institutions have been called upon to as a matter of urgency resolve any difference between them.
The Stars have failed to register a win in their last four games, with some blaming the impasse between the two bodies for the poor form of the team.
Augustine Arhinful, a former Back Stars player, believes a healthy relationship between the two bodies could possibly translate into good results for the nation in the continent’s most prestigious competition.
He told Class Sports in an interview on Thursday October 20 that: “There are too many issues surrounding this team and that needs to be curtailed. The team needs peace to actually perform. If they have to come to town with all the problems surrounding accommodation, ticketing, people hearing there are issues between the Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, it doesn’t make for an easy situation in camp.”
He added: “If they come down without any issue confronting them especially between the FA and the Sports Ministry, I strongly believe that they would come good at the AFCON.”
The 2017 Africa Cup of Nations will held from the 14th of January to the 5th of February and will be played in four cities namely Libreville, Oyem, Franceville, and Port Gentil.
