Ghana and Red Bull Salzburg winger Samuel Tetteh will not be able to kick a ball again this season after under-going surgery in Austria to correct a knee meniscus injury he picked up while playing for his club.
The 20-year-old has been in top shape for Liefering, scoring ten goals to help the side and ultimately winning a place in Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations team in Gabon.
In addition to the ten goals, Tetteh also assisted five goals in what has been a truly impressive season in the Austrian first division for the Ghanaian youngster.
Two step-overs and an unfortunate slip saw him damage his meniscus and needed to be operated on immediately to avoid future occurrences.
The Ghanaian who was recently promoted to the Red Bull first team is on crutches and is now racing against time to be ready for pre-season.
He becomes the second Ghanaian to pick up this career threatening knee meniscus injury after Schalke defender Baba Rahman also suffered a similar injury while in camp with the Black Stars.
