Former Ghana FA spokesperson Randy Abbey has revealed how George Afriyie ‘betrayed him’ during the 2011 Executive Committee elections.
The Heart of Lions owner claims he was stabbed in the back by his good friend who hid the decision to contest from him .
Abbey found out that Afriyie was involved in a plot to oust him [Abbey] who was seeking re-election onto the powerful body.
But intervention of the late Alhaji Sly Tetteh ensured Abbey he won the run-off on the ticket of Berekum Chelsea.
Afriyie won and got to serve on the Ex. Co as one of the four Division One League slots.
”When I was [Black] Meteors chairman George [Afriyie] was a member and we got on quite well, but in the course of football politics, he went wayward as far as our relationship is concerned,” he said on Asempa FM.
”Because there were things he got himself him, which affected me.
”Somebody can interpret that as a mark of betrayal to the extent that you had knowledge of some information which was about me and was against me and you didn’t tell me and you were party to it and you later became a beneficiary
”But like I said, those things- we are men we sort them out, it’s happened. We speak as men, we move on. Those things are in the past.”
