Management member of Ghana second-tier side Proud United Jojo Duncan says his outfit will not allow Hearts of Oak to honour their league games at the Swedru Stadium on Sundays should they opt to adopt the venue as their home ground for the upcoming Ghana League season.
According to Duncan, they will consider the Phobians to use the Swedru Stadium only if they can cope with playing their matches on Fridays and Saturdays.
The experienced administrator disclosed that they spent well over GH¢ 50,000 to renovate the venue hence they will not allow the Accra giants to dictate for them as they are only interested in honouring their division one games on Sundays.
“We (Proud Utd) are the mother home team at the Swedru Sports Stadium even though Hearts of Oak have considered Swedru as their home match venue for the upcoming 2017/18 Ghana Premier league. We will not accept to play our home matches on Fridays nor Saturdays but will play on Sundays because we spent close GH50,000 to renovate the abandoned Swedru Stadium,” he told Sportsnetghana.com
“We will only accept to play on Sundays.”
He added, “We are able to get the supporters to watch our games on Sundays which helps us to get some revenue. We will not compromise and allow Hearts to play on Sundays because we will be loosing if that should happen.”
The Rainbow Club are seriously scouring for a home venue ahead of the coming campaign after the Accra Sports Stadium was closed down by the Sports ministry for renovation works ahead of the forthcoming 2018 Africa Women Championship that will be held in Ghana later this year.
