Great Olympics legend Mohammed Polo has praised his former team for qualifying to next season’s Ghana Premier League.
The Accra-based side, who were led by former Black Starlets striker Godwin Attram, sealed qualification into the 2016/17 campaign with a game to spare in Zone 3 of the GN Bank Division One League.
“They came to the Premier League, went back and now they have come back again. I want to congratulate them for this effort but I single out one person in all of this and he is in the person of Godwin Attram. When Olympics got relegated, he had been back playing from abroad not too long and could have decided to do something else. But he took it upon himself to bring the club back from the first division and that has proved to be a very wonderful decision,” Polo told Class Sports.
He charged other traditional Ghanaian clubs like Okwahu United and Kumasi Cornerstone who have been in the doldrums to learn from the example of Great Olympics.
“Clubs like Okwahu United, Kumasi Cornerstone, among others, have gone down for far too long and are yet to show up. I think the precedent set by Great Olympics is one that they can all follow to ensure that they make it back to the top tier. Those clubs had some strong rivalry among them and I am sure the league will become more exciting with them,” he stated.
