Ghanaian Talent and Atletico Madrid youngster Thomas Teye Partey has been called up by Ghana for the first time, together with Kazakhstan-based Patrick Twumasi.
They are among three debutants named in coach Avram Grant’s 23-man squad for the upcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with Mauritius on June 5. Partey gets a look-in following a run of good outings for Atletico in the Spanish La Liga and the Uefa Champions League.
Ashanti Gold’s Kadri Mohammed is the other new face in the contingent, although a regular member of the home-based Black Stars set-up. Back to the squad is goalkeeper Fatau Dauda, whose presence can be explained by the absence of the injured Adam Kwarasey.
Fit-again Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah is still conspicuously missing, while captain Asamoah Gyan has also been forced out by a recent injury setback. Lorient striker Majeed Waris has also been ignored.
