Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has called the captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan and his deputy, Andre Ayew to ignore any negative media report to avoid any confusion.
It has had been reported severally that both players are having a rocky relationship at the camp of the Black Stars due to who should captain the national team.
Ahead of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ethiopia at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, Osei Tutu II has urged both players to throw out any unwelcome negative media reportage if they want peace reign at the camp of the national team.
Speaking at the Manhyia Palace when the players paid him a courtesy visit, he said, “I am very happy to see you in my palace. I will only encourage you to show patriotism and not to dwell on money but rather accepts whatever the country settles on as winning bonus.
“I know your abilities and all I expect this Sunday is to score more goals. Show discipline in all that you do.
“To the new players, this is a new beginning but I know you will work hard and make the country proud.
“I will urge the sports minister to be frank and direct with his dealings with the Black Stars with no deceit.
“I have heard a lot about the bad relationship between Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew through the media but I will only call on you to avoid any negative media reports and doing that, there will be no confusion.” He added.
Kwesi Appiah will be hoping to start on a good nite after he was reappointed as the head coach of the Black Stars in May 1.
