Kwesi Appiah is one of 4 the coaches who applied for the Stars job
Despite numerous calls for a local coach to be appointed as the head coach of the Black Stars, only four locals tendered in their applications for the job, according to Kumasi-based Boss FM.
Former Black Stars coach Akwasi Appiah, AshGold coach Bashir Hayford, Afcon winner and former Kotoko coach Abdul Karim Razak and former national player Kuuku Dadzie were the only local coaches who applied for the job.
In addition, the vibrant radio station noted that over eighty foreign coaches applied for the vacant job.
The Ghana coaching job has been vacant since the departure of Avram Grant after the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
With the number of coaches on the local scene and calls for the FA to appoint an indigene for the job, it appears quite disappointing to have only four applying for the job.
A close source to the 6-man committee mandated to appoint the new coach disclosed that names like Ibrahim Tanko, David Duncan, J. E. Sarpong, Marcel Desailly and Otto Addo were all missing from the list of applicants despite earlier reports that they were interested in the job.
The committee is expected to announce the shortlist of coaches for interview by Tuesday 28th March.
