Ghanaian midfielder Augustine Okrah scored his debut goal as Al Hilal defeated Mauritian side AS Port Louis 3-0 in the Caf Champions League first round first leg on Sunday.
Okrah, who was playing his first continental game for Hilal after joining them from city rivals Al Merriekh in December, opened the scoring after 15 minutes before Bishra added two goals later on.
“I’m delighted with the goal I scored but the 3-0 scoreline is what makes me very happy. We will go into the second leg with high hopes to make it to the next round of the competition,” Okrah told Goal.
“The recent weeks have been very bad for us because we recorded several draws in the local league games which brought pressure on us. We were unhappy prior to the game but I believe the win will restore the wonderful mood in camp. We can play, relax and smile a lot ahead of the return fixture next weekend,” he added.
Okrah was substituted after eight minutes in the second-half and was rushed to the hospital by the medical staff of Hilal but, the former Ghana Premier League best Player and goal king says he is responding to treatment and hopes to return to action soon.
“I was in a good position to score another goal but the opponent pushed me very hard and I landed on my right hand. The pains were too much to bear after the tackle so I signalled the coach to substitute me and was rushed to the hospital. But I’m currently okay after the treatment so I’m hoping to fully recover for the second leg. I really want to play a role in the game in Mauritius,” he said.
