Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu has expressed his disappointed over their inability to get anything from their match against Liverpool in the English Premier League on Saturday.
The Newcastle went into the game having only lost to Manchester City in the English Premier League since the middle of December, but goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane ensured the Reds run away 2-0 victors at Anfield.
The Magpies will welcome Southampton at the James’ Park on Saturday as they bid to maintain their premiership status, and Christian Atsu has urged his team-mates to ficus on the task ahead.
“We wanted to get three points from Bournemouth and against Liverpool, but we couldn’t get them so we have to give everything against Southampton at home,” the 26-year-old told NUFC TV:
“I believe the fans will be behind us. We fought today, we tried everything, and if we put that determination in the next game, I believe we will get the win.”
Newcastle currently sit one place and one point above Southampton in the league standings.
