Ghana international Mubarak Wakaso says he is surprised about the exclusion of Sassoulo midfielder Alfred Duncan from the Black Stars squad.
Duncan was not named among the 30-man squad for the Black Stars upcoming Cup of Nations qualifier and international friendlies.
The midfielder was overlooked despite ending the season as one of Ghana’s best player in Europe.
The former Black Satellites midfielder was expected to make the list after playing 31 matches for Sassoulo in the Italia serie A in the just ended season.
Wakaso believes the 23-year-old should have made the team for the upcoming games.
“I think everyone there deserves a call-up, every player has done well to get a call-up to the Black Stars team,” he told Metro TV.
“The only player am surprised not to see him in the team is Alfred Duncan, I think he was excellent for his team and played very well.
“I was expecting to see him, he is one player that I think should have been in the team but the technical team know best.”
The Black Stars are preparing for Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia at the Babayara Sports Stadium.
