Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris says he is happy with his current form in the French Ligue 1. The 24-year-old has scored four goals in his last four appearances for relegation-threatened Lorient but hopes they can still improve to avoid the drop.
Lorient are currently sitting at bottom on the log with 12 points.
“I feel very good. We’re playing pretty well right now but we have to win more matches,” Waris told his club’s official website. “Now it is very important to quickly take the three points of victory,”
“I am very happy to score regularly but I work hard during training so that I can be performing better on weekends. I knew very well that I was going to score in our last game.
“I would be even happier if we earned more points regularly to avoid relegation,” he added.
Lorient have an opportunity to move at least two places up next weekend when they lock horns with AS Saint-Etienne at Stade Yves Allainmat.
Waris, who is also preparing for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Gabon, will be on the lookout to find the back of the net against the Greens, for his eight goal of the campaign.
Ghana have been paired with Egypt, Uganda and Mali in Group D, with the Black Stars chasing their first title since 1982.
