Midfield Mystro, Gerald Arkson is confident his Liberty Professionals side can put last weekend’s defeat against Kotoko behind them when they face Inter Allies at the Carl Reindorf Park this Sunday.
The Dansoman based side are hoping to get their 2016/17 Ghana Premier League (GPL) campaign back on track in their first home game of the season and the young midfielder believes Sunday’s game against Inter Allies will provide the perfect atmosphere for the Scientific Soccer Lads to put smiles back on the faces of their fans.
Speaking exclusively to SportsWorldGhana.com in the build-up to the weekend’s GPL round of matches, Arkson said, Liberty have no other choice than to register a win over their guests.
“We lost to Kotoko last week and definitely our fans aren’t feeling okay because we scored even the 1st goal. But suddenly we lost the game in the second half. So come Sunday it’s our right to put the smiles back on the faces of our fans for disappointing them last week”, Arkson said.
“We have no other choice than to win this very game for them,” he added.
Liberty returned to training last Monday following the defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium and the 20-year old is confident his side are in good shape ahead of Sunday’s clash.
“Everyone is doing their very best in training just as I said earlier. Every player of liberty who is gonna be given the opportunity to put on the jersey is ready to die for the 3 points on Sunday”, Arkson revealed.
Last weekend’s defeat at Kotoko saw Arkson deployed in an advanced midfield role, contrary to what the young midfielder played in the previous two seasons for Liberty.
But according to the player, that is how the coaches want him to play this season and is working hard to adjust and give up his for the team.
“I will be seen forward more often this season. That’s what I can say because I have been informed to push up more often which I have no excuse than to believe in my coaches since they know what every player is capable of doing. So obviously I can say that’s how is gonna be this season”, Gerald Arkson stated.
On his lack of goals, the highly rated midfielder said, “That’s my prayer [to scores goals this season]and to help my team with a win at least. Even if I am not able to score I have to put up my very best and thats more than scoring a goal”
“Inter Allies isn’t a bad side as well. They have more energetic young guys just like us so the game is gonna be interesting to watch”, he added.
