The 24-year-old doubled the lead for the Yellow lads in the 79th minute after Fabio Ferreira has snatched the opener.
The visitors grabbed a consolation goal through a late strike from Jordan O’Doherty.
Appiah was introduced to the game on the 65th minute of the match.
