Kotoko supporters chief Obeng Sekyere has accused Aduana Stars owner Nana Agyemang Badu II for masterminding his side’s painful 1-0 defeat to rivals Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash on Sunday.
Sekyere has fingered the traditional ruler for influencing referee Samuel Sukah after his controversial penalty decision ruffled feathers in the West African nation.
The Porcupine Warriors suffered defeat in Accra for the first time in eight years after Vincent Atinga stepped up to convert what has been termed a ‘dubious’ penalty in the 84th minute.
While referee Sukah has come under a lot of flak for the decision, Kotoko’s supporters chief Obeng Sekyere, has accused Aduana Stars owner Nana Agyemang-Badu for manipulating the result.
“Sometimes is very painful to follow Ghana football, an astute football administrator said we thank ‘Nana’ for this victory” he told Obuasi-based Time FM
“Nana Agyemang Badu was behind our Sunday’s defeat, I will never lie for fame. He gave referee Sukah money to ensure Kotoko lost the game because Aduana Stars had lost to Dwarfs.
“He [Nana Agyemang Badu II] is the man behind everything that happened in Accra. We had some of the Hearts management members thanking Nana after the match.”
It’s unclear if the Ghana FA will open investigation into the libelous claim as it threatens the sanctity of the game in the West African country.
GHANAsoccernet.com revealed in September last year that several referees are in the pockets of top football club owners in Ghana though they are unwilling to provide proof.
Ghanaian referees have been on the front burner after world governing body, FIFA banned J. O Lamptey for life for match manipulation in a 2018 World Cup qualifier between South Africa and Senegal in November last year.
