Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew could be tempted into a big-money move to China this month, according to reports in the UK.
Shanghai SIPG have already registered an interest in the £12m-rated striker and other Super League clubs are also keen.
According to Birmingham Mail, Ayew’s representatives have been busy discussing his future.
The offer of huge wages is likely to appeal to Ayew who had to take a pay cut after relegation last season with Aston Villa.
But while Villa braces themselves for offers, they won’t do business unless a suitable offer is received. Ayew cost £10m and Villa will only consider bids above that figure.
With the Chinese pursuit gaining momentum, there’s a chance the 25-year-old could have played his last game in Villa colours.
He’s currently away with Ghana on African Cup of Nations duty and could be with the Black Stars until the first week in February depending on results.
A number of top-flight clubs in both England and France were interested in signing him over the summer but it’s now the Chinese outfits that lead the chase.
Signed from Lorient, Ayew has scored just nine times in 51 games. He’s also struggled to find his top form this season and has been used sparingly by Bruce.
