Newly appointed Technical Director of AshantiGold John Christiansen has insisted they will work hard to end the ongoing Ghana Premier League on a high, noting that his perfect relationship with coach CK Akunnor will help their course.
The Danish trainer was handed over the team’s technical job in the off-season as part of new structures laid down by their new investors in a bid to return the club to its glory days.
Christiansen, who holds a UEFA License A coaching certificate and trains coaches for the Danish FA, was on the club’s bench when they pipped Wa All Stars to a 1-0 win in the league opener at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, but says there were some flaws in their play which he’ll work with coach Akunnor to rectify ahead of their subsequent games.
“My relationship with C K Akunnor is fantastic, we both know our responsibilities. As a Technical director, I need to help my coach rectify mistakes I’m every game we play for example against Wa All Stars, our first half was better than the second half which we have discussed as a technical team,” Christiansen told Oyerepa FM.
“We are looking at setting up academies in Obuasi and Kumasi. I want to bring out a world class player from Obuasi. We will work very hard so what happened to AshantiGold last year will not happen again.”
AshantiGold will travel to the Cape Coast Stadium to engage Hearts of Oak on Match Day 2 of the league campaign on Saturday.
