Mr Frank Nelson, Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has said that, Alhaji Issa Hayatou’s defeat at the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) was due to the fact that his time was due.
“Hayatou was acting beyond bounds and it is proper that he is booted out. Ahmad is not going to tow Hayatou’s line, because we are looking at a transparent and accountable leader and reform is the right approach”, he stated.
In an interview with the press, Mr Nelson said, Ahmad had a message and that won him votes.
“It is your message and its timing that is very crucial. Ask yourself where the loophole is and how you can fill it to the benefit of the people. I believe that was exactly what Ahmad did and he deserved the win”, he said.
“We have high expectations for the new president because it is not all talk, but we want to see and feel his work as he has promised”. He noted.
He also commented on Nyantakyi’s victory saying, “People are trying to relate what has happened in CAF to Ghana but we are not in transition yet. Kwesi has been given a four year mandate and he must be given that space to deliver.
“Kwesi is a formidable force as far as football politics is concern. He is knowledgeable not only in the field of football but in all aspects of life and I encourage us to learn from him because that is what a leader is made up of”, he added.
“Ghanaians should not expect special favours from Kwesi. If he has to do it as a Ghanaian, he will deliver but in a case of global issues, he will not hesitate to punish Ghana”, he explained.
