Accra Hearts of Oak board member Frank Nelson has said Hearts of Oak defender Inusah Musah deserves his award as the best defender for the 2015/2016 season at the just-ended PLB awards and is also good enough to be in the senior national team, the Black Stars.
“Without being biased, I think he has all it takes to be in the national team. He has all it takes to be there – he is disciplined and sticks to instructions – and it is down to a good coach to pick him and instil confidence in him. So, I will not be surprised if he is called into the team for the Africa Cup of Nations,” he told Class Sports in an interview.
“In the first round of the league he (Inusah) played about two matches and got injured but came back in the second round, and everyone saw the kind of performances he put up. Playing about 14 matches and winning five MVPs was great. Even fans of other clubs did appreciate his performance, so it wasn’t by chance he won this award.”
The defender, who battled with injuries at the start of the season, won five MVPs in the course of the season and managed to beat off competition from Kotoko’s Amos Frimpong and Dreams FC’s Abdul Bashiru to be crowned MVP at the PLB awards ceremony organised on Friday 16 December.
Inusah has had the opportunity to train with the Black Stars of Ghana, when the team was preparing to face Uganda in a World Cup qualifying match.
