Interim Kumasi Asante Kotoko coach Michael Osei has stated that he is responsible for the signing of new players in the ongoing transfer window ahead of their upcoming league season.
The former New Edubiase assistant trainer has claimed that the newly-appointed club Executive Chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei has reposed his confidence in him and for that matter, he currently oversees the in-and-out of players so far as he remains the club’s technical team top member.
The soft-spoken tactician also revealed that the business magnate tendered in some names of players for their possible recruitment and lo and behold the list coincided with what he also had in mind as his targeted players.
“I can confirm to you that I’m fully responsible for players recruitment in the ongoing transfer window. He[Dr. Kwame Kyei] made this known to me when we both met to deliberate on what players should be brought to Kotoko ahead of the coming season,” the 45-year-old former Mainz O5 enforcer told Kumasi-based Silver FM.
He added: “Dr. Kwame Kyei even produced some list of players for their possible recruitment and surprisingly it coincided with what I also had in mind. I pencilled down the same players as my targeted ones, and we’re still pushing for their services. So he has left everything to me, and I can emphatically say that I’m 100 percent in charge of signing the new players at the moment.”
Michael Osei has started his pre-season on a high note after guiding his side to a semi-final berth in the ongoing GHALCA G6 tournament and will lock horns with their sworn rivals on Sunday in Kumasi.
